Getting perm hair as a man?

Hi English is my sec language, therfore pardon my english ok?

i am korean, and nowadays, i have wanted to get my hair permed.....

i live in NYC. i went to one of korean hair salons, and they costed me $80. if tip is included, it will cost $90........

to get a hair cut, i have to give them $35 without tip....

do you think it is normal in NYC?

i think its kind of expensive, so i want to try another hair salon..... but, i am afraid of going to american hair salons..

many koreans consider they suck. and they think it's not good for asians because asians are different from caucasians, and they think the prefered style is different....besides, i am gonna have perm hair, i don't know if they can do it well for me, also dunno the price.....

what do you guys think about this situation??

and if you wanna recommend american hair salons, plz give me directions and approximate prices.

Thats funny.. My parents lived in Korea , and she couldn't find a salon to give her a good cut and color in the 8 years they spent there.

The prices you were quoting sound average.

You make a valid point about Korean stylists and American stylists. Not that one is better than the other, but that each stylist will be more familiar with hair types, colors, etc. (My mom couldn't get a good blonde dye job in Korea, because the stylists didn't have experience dying blonde hair blonde - the products were made to color very dark hair...)

But for what it's worth - I have not yet seen a perm on a man that looked good. Never. Ever. Don't do it...

Don't get a perm. They seem like a good idea, but they are a nightmare.

Perms are out. And I lived in Korea for a year and I never saw a good perm on a man there. You didn't say your age but I would say definately out........for a man or a woman.

Trust me you don't want to get a perm. Those prices are normal!!!! Things cost alot in NYC!!! Well I personally think you should just get a haircut! Perms are a pain in the patooty!
