Hair emergency?!?

i dyed my hair black about 4 months ago, in april. It used to be very thick and long but now that i look at it, it seems as if my hair is breaking and is thinner. My main concern is actually the breakage, which is feel is whats making my hair seem thinner. But the thing is idk what the best products are to strengthen my hair, or treat hair breakage.

Hair emergency?!?

Thick hair isn't always a good thing. When your hair gets thinner, it means that the thickness was just too much. About the breakage, I'm not so sure.

Hair emergency?!?

If you dyed your hair yourself with cheap dye rather than going to the hairdresser it may have damaged your hair quite badly so invest in a good protein shampoo, conditioner and treatment (I used Redken after I dual-bleached my hair and its a life saver lol)

coloring your hair a darker shade will not cause hair to thin.

But medications, stress and tying you hair to tight can. It's always best to ask a doctor if your worried.

Hair emergency?!?

Start out getting a deep conditioner often. Redken Chemistry System works wonders. It can only be done at salon though. In between the Chemistry System you want to use a at home deep conditioner, just make sure the deep conditioner you use don't have alot of protein. There is Moisture and Protein. Alot of people don't know this but too much protein can make it alot worse. They will buy a deep conditioner and wonder why its not working. You have to be careful. So my suggestion as a stylist is go into a salon to get a deep conditioner done. Talk to them about what to usea t home. They'll beable to tell you if you need moisture or protein or even both.

Hair emergency?!?

I can help you on this. First if your hair is breaking and has damage from your color I can give you step by step what to do. First if you are using over the counter products please stop. Over the counter is mostly water and wax and some will strip your hair. A gal I know uses prell to clean the oil off her garage floor. Think of what that would do to your hair.

Now step by step how to get the breakage down. Get your hair cut every 6 to 8 weeks if you are growing it and 4 to 6 if not. For the first cut you get make sure she cuts all the splits off. Yes it will more then likely be more then the normal 1/2 inch but it will help in the growth after. When your hair splits it will keep spliting until it breaks off at the weakest point, thus making your hair shorter. Your hair and nails grow faster from spring through early fall. So if you do it soon you will gain more hair right now.

For splits up higher on the hair shaft.

1 section hair off into 4 sections.

2 Take small amounts of hair and twist gently like a rope.

3 gently run fingers up the hair shaft to expose all splits.

4 take shears and cut parrelle to the hair shaft. If you cut towards the hair you risk cutting into your hair.

You should get a friend you trust to help you with this. Once the splits are cut off they stop spliting unless they are damaged again.

Don't use rubber bands and put hair in braids. If you must tie up your hair use cloth covered bands. Comb out dangles with a pick from bottom of hair up.

Now also what you need besides pro shampoo etc. is a reconstructive treatment. One for damaged hair.

This is how you do a treatment.

1 Wash hair ( pro products)

2 Apply treatment

3 Cover head with bag for long hair and cap for short.

4 Use hair blower or alike to head the head

5 Cover with towel and let slowly cool, then rinse.

NEVER RINSE HAIR WHILE HOT, this can make hair break off.

I really want you to get professional products. I will tell you a story to prove how much better they are. While doing a client she told me that once when getting her hair done the stylist said that it was strange that all her damage was under your hair and not over like the most have. Like when you put your hair up how much nicer the hair is under and when laying down it looks so damaged. She said when she washes her hair she always did it in the tub with her head down. Putting the over the counter shampoo under the hair.

I hope this helps.
