I just started taking biotin - 5000 mg pills
I've been told it makes hair very strong and healthy - it also makes it grow faster.
How much faster is my question. I know on average it grow 1/2 inch a month and 1 inch in summer. But if i take biotin will it grow 1/2 in ch more or what.
I also heard excessive washing is not good. So i cut mine down from everyday to 3 times a week max.
I'm in the growing phase so i wan't to grow it out right this time. I've has long hair before but it was always kind of broken and nasty, i want it to look healthy and strong.
I have heard mixing Jojoba and lavender oil works great. But how should i apply it. Do i apply it once a week? Do i leave it in my hair? Apply it, leave it in for 30 minutes then wash out w/ shampoo? Or do i apply it when it is wet?
Any other tips would be great also.
I'm a guy BTW, i know it sounds pretty girly, but i love having long hair, not down to my butt or anything. Usually about 6-8 inches long.

Jojoba works nicely for me, but if your hair is naturally oily, use sesame or something lighter mixed with an essential oil. I use it on the bottom half of my hair, as it tends to dry out there, but not near the roots. I also use a flat iron regularly, so the oil helps prevent damage. I apply it to almost dry hair, leave the oil in, use heat to set it. I would recommend a silicon product to seal the moisture in ( I use Kendra platinum, but it smells like strawberry).

You wash your hair only 3 times a week 0_o
I wash my hair everyday, well I guess thats why it isn't as shiny or smooth looking as my sisters. I should start following this. I guess its the oil that protects the hair. Just like on your hands. If you wash them to much, there won't be any oil to protect it. Thats what causes drying out. My doctor just recommends using a soap with moisturizers. I used to have surgeons hands (really dry hands)
I had three friends who always kept their hair long, then they cut it short for some reason. They had really nice hair though, I liked how shiny it was. I also know that some people use coconut oil in their hair. But I don't believe that.

Not sure about the effects of Biotin...but I do know that washing too much does dry your hair out. It's better to try to wash every other day if needed. The best oil for your hair is your own.
As far as Jojoba and Lavender yes, I would apply the oil mixed in with a deep conditioner when it's wet, about once or twice a week.
Apply it through your hair with a wide tooth comb then put a plastic bag on your head and let the heat help penetrate the cuticle for awesome deep conditioning.
Do not shampoo again just let the water rinse thoroughly.
Keeping your hair trimmed is also very good to help growth.
It avoids too many split ends and keeps your hair maintained and groomed.
I don't think it's too girly....I give my husband manicures and conditioning treatments all the time....it's nice when even guys take pride in their appearance!
