Wet Hair, Dried Blood and HIV...?

Hey guys, have a quick question for you. I was taking a shower in a hotel room. When I got out and dried my hair, I walked out of the shower and into the room itself. My hair was still damp. Having longer hair, I brushed up against a wall getting into bed and I noticed that on the wall was what appeared to be dry blood. I am worried that some of the dry blood came into contact with my wet hair, casuing the b;lood to be wet and fresh again. I am also worried that the blood was HIV positive. Assuming it was, am I at risk for getting anything? Can the blood be reactivated and soak into my hair? Can i get HIV or Hep C from this? Will a simple shower in hot water with shampoo get rid of everything and clean my hair, or do I need to do something more drastic?

Please help, I am freaking out!

Thanks

I see this is a regular question for you. Why do you ask again and again (and again and again and again)?

You aren't freaking out. You're just a freak.

Dried blood can't hurt you.

dont worry, you can only get HIV by actually getting it in to your blood system och having se* with someone who has got the STI, but jst to make sure, visit your doctor

dude relax, you will definetly not contract AIDS(HIV) but having your dry hair get in contact with blood. chill okie? nothing to worry. if these words still dont answer your question , get th answer your self just by getting your blood checked for HIV ( ELISA test ). its a pretty simple and its pretty cheap too. okie? so .. chill and happy weekend. -

You absolutely do not need to be worried. The HIV virus is very fragile -- if it had been on the wall long enough for the blood to dry, the virus would have died. Even supposing that your wet hair did somehow "reactivate" the virus -- which, I assure you, is quite impossible -- you would have to have to have an open (as in currently bleeding) wound on your head to be at risk for infection from a blood-bourne illness.

If you still feel icky about possibly having someone else's blood on your head, by all means, take another shower, but even that is unecessary. Certainly don't do anything more drastic.

You are in no danger. Infected blood would have to enter an open wound to cause a problem. Also if it is blood and it has dried any virus has long since died and will not be reactivated just because it gets wet. relax you are okay. ;o)

HIV would be a small window of infection. Hep/C in dried blood can infect up to about 10 days.....but it has to get into your system. Hair is a poor transmitter of any disease. To be saf I'd wash my hair again using normal shampoo and technique.

Tell the manager of the hotel, immediately. Yes, go back and scrub down, well. If you have a camera, take a pix of the blood on the wall. WRite down the time and date. I truly doubt that you caught something, but, then, I prefer to be cautious. Call a doctor and ask if you should take a sample of THAT blood, with gloves on, and if you should bring it in for sampling. Make sure the hotel knows they are being charged for this, and for any complications that could arise from this. Actually, have the hotel person DO it for you, and DO keep it enclosed in plastic. You have a right to have that blood tested, and you have a right to have any shots you need, etc. (if you need ANY) to be paid for by that Hotel! Public HEalth might be agreeable to come out to test the blood for you. It is really bad for this hotel to have left ANY blood around your room! That's just not acceptable for anyone!

Bob! WHEN are you getting that bubble suit I have been urging you to get!?!

This scenario is better, you got the hotel thing going and that is nice that this "possible exposure" didn't happen in a grocery store like your last 4 posts! Congrats!

So, for this scenario I am going to up it to a score of 7!\

And, as always! No, can't get it this way either!

For all the freaking out that you do, I suggest you consult your psychologist for some anti-anxiety drugs. If you don't have one, you might want to look into getting one ....

Wet Hair, Dried Blood and HIV...?

Nothing should have happen to you because when the HIV virus touches air it dies.

You can't get HIV from drinking, kissing, hugging, casual contact, and using same toilet as an HIV person.

Wet Hair, Dried Blood and HIV...?

you are looking suspected

because you are asking one question again and again

did you kill somebody?
